Weird Bliss
"Loving God is an adventure that will carry you to places you've only dreamed of reaching, into the scariest, most wonderful places you've ever known. And through it all he's there with you, holding you in His arms forever."
Okay after reading this post you must read ((Psalm 73)) if you are feeling any disappointment or feel like you’re missing out on what the world has to offer by living for God. It starts off:
“Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart. But as for me, my feel had almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold.”
-Psalm 73:1-2
The psalmist then goes on to say why he nearly lost it, which was because he envied the arrogant, saw how prosperous the wicked were, how little they struggled, how healthy they were, how their pride seemed to get them everything they wanted, they were rich from living a carefree lifestyle and they seemed to ignore God.
“Their mouths lay claim to heaven, and their tongues take possession of the earth.”
-Psalm 73:9
The psalmist starts to wonder if it was even worth it to have kept his heart pure and remain innocent, for he has seen no reward for it yet, just hardship. He couldn’t understand why God would do this until he entered the sanctuary of God (or simply talked to God) and understood the destination of the people he envied
“How suddenly are they destroyed, completely swept away by terrors! As a dream when one awakes, so when you arise, O Lord, you will despise them as fantasies.”
-Psalm 73:19-20
He admits his stupidity for loving and desiring what the world has, claiming he was senseless and ignorant. Because he realized his destination was a great one. One of my favorite verses from this Psalm is:
“Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.”
-Psalm 73:23-24
How awesome is that?! Even though we stumble God is with us holding our hands to lead us through this messed up world so that soon we will be dancing in the amazing glory of His Kingdom, with so much joy andcarefree innocence!
“Whom have I in heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides You.”
-Psalm 73:25
Draw near to God friends! Run away from earthly pleasures. Don’t envy celebrities, friends or family who seem to have everything except God. Pity them, love them and pray for them for they have closed God out of their lives and their destiny is dark..
